No kid likes hearing, “I’ve known you since you were born! I visited you in the hospital just a day after you were born!” So I refrained from saying all the things I wanted to say. “I can’t believe you’re a senior already!” But all these things are true. I was there during the pregnancy when mom received a Barbie doll with a pregnant belly and a baby that actually came out of the belly. Yes, that was a thing, I guess. I was there in the hospital to see the new baby (the real one, not the Barbie baby), to congratulate mom and dad, to move mom’s leg that was numb from the epidural because apparently I thought me having a place to sit was important. (Younger self, what were you thinking?) I was there to watch mom navigating becoming a mom and then learn from all her wisdom. And I was there to capture him during his senior year of high school.
Aaron, I enjoyed every minute with you and your mom. You are kind, funny, (oh, so funny!), smart and an amazing guy. Best wishes on your senior year of high school. I can’t wait to see where life takes you next. And, I’ll definitely be up-to-date with you because your mom is one of my besties!
