A senior session with Emily Sommer Photography is designed to feel guided, personal, and taken care of from beginning to end. I’ll help you know when to book, what to wear, how to choose locations, and what to expect so you never feel like you have to figure it all out on your own.
During the session, I’ll gently guide you through natural posing and movement so you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself in front of the camera. We’ll choose locations, outfits, and details that reflect who you are in this season — polished, meaningful, and true to you.
Afterward, I’ll help you choose the images you love most and decide how you want to enjoy them — whether that’s through digital files, an heirloom album, framed artwork, or keepsake prints for your home.
The goal is simple: senior photos that feel easy, elevated, and personal — with a finished result you can actually see, hold, and enjoy for years.

Your job is to relax, I do the rest. As a Columbus, Ohio newborn photographer, I have lots of experience guiding families through a calm, enjoyable session. All you need to do is show up, and I will do the rest.

Once it's official, I will send over your Style Guide so you know exactly how to prepare. I am always available to talk more over the phone or email.
02. Receive Your Style guide
This is the fun part! You have lots of options for how to enjoy your images - digital images, framed artwork, prints and -my favorite!- stunning albums. I will guide you every step of the way and take care of turning your images into beautiful works of art that you will cherish forever.
04. choose your images and artwork
Don't worry about the number of images or the length of your videos! While parents may remind you to get everything from the camera crew, rest assured that we will. Trust the process. Approach your pre-shoot with the excitement of a date night in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in view, and let us deliver.

when should i book my senior session?
This depends on you!
A lot of senior like to book their sessions during the summer before the busyness of school and other activities dominate their schedules.
If you prefer dresses and light-weight clothes, lots of flowers and green, this is the perfect season. If you prefer sweater and layers, cooler weather and colorful foliage, the fall might be more your style.
I offer beautiful printed products so your photos don’t just live on your phone or computer forever. Product options include albums, framed prints, wall art, gift prints, and other heirloom pieces.
My heart is to help you turn your images into something you can actually see and enjoy in your home — not just scroll past once and forget. These moments deserve to be part of your everyday life.
6. What products do you offer?
My sessions are relaxed, guided, and never overly stiff. I’ll help with posing, movement, and natural prompts so you don’t have to wonder what to do with your hands — because I know we've all been there.
For senior sessions, I’ll guide you through all the posing!
4. What is the senior session experience like?
You get to decide! I will send you a Questionnaire so that I can get to know you a little better and choose your location(s).
5. Where will my senior photos take place?
Your viewing gallery will typically be delivered within a few weeks after your session. I take time to carefully edit each image so your gallery feels consistent, polished, and true to my style. From there, you will choose the products you’d like to order.
3. How long does it take to receive my photos?
I always recommend bringing a few outfit options that show different sides of your personality — something classic, something fun, and something that feels completely like you. The goal is for your photos to feel polished but still real. I will send you a Style Guide to help you prepare. I even offer a tool to help you know which colors look best on you.
